Rekro’s existing website was originally designed for a student-focused audience entering the rental market. As the business expanded, the platform needed to communicate more clearly with a wider audience while still remaining approachable for students.

The previous website no longer reflected the company’s evolving direction, services, or target market. The challenge was to redesign the platform in a way that felt more professional, trustworthy, and scalable, while improving the overall user experience and visual communication of the brand.

Design Decisions

reKro

During my internship at reKro, I worked closely within a team of three designers to help launch and develop the startup’s website and digital brand presence. The fast-paced environment involved weekly deadlines, collaborative design sprints, and constant iteration to bring the founder’s vision to life.

We held check-ins with the founder twice daily to align on goals, feedback, and feature direction throughout the project lifecycle. My role focused on supporting both the visual identity and user experience of the platform, including creating brand guidelines, colour palettes, and early-stage website concepts.

The final product was a redesigned website experience that better reflected Rekro’s evolving identity and target audience. The updated platform communicated the brand more clearly, improved the visual structure of information, and created a more modern user experience tailored to both students and the wider rental market.

This project strengthened my experience in collaborative design, startup workflows, rapid iteration, branding systems, and designing user-focused digital experiences within a real-world team environment.

Final Outcome

To better understand the rental and property market, we researched existing rental platforms and competitors to analyse their user experience, information hierarchy, and interface design patterns.
